The core message of the Bible, of the Christian faith, and of Northeast Baptist Church is the message of the Gospel, that is, the fact that through Jesus Christ every person can receive forgiveness of sins and everlasting life.

The Bible is very clear that God wants every human being to spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

It is not GOD who prevents us from having eternal life; it is OUR SIN that condemns us.

John 3:17-18 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Every human being is guilty of rebelling against God, revolting against our Creator.

Mankind is the only element of God’s creation that has refused to glorify God by doing what He created us to do.

Psalms 14:2-3 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Our sinful, rebellious condition is not clearly seen by comparing ourselves with other human beings: “ I’m not so bad, I work hard, I pay my bills, I’ve never hurt anybody.” Our sinful, rebellious condition IS clearly seen in the fact that we DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT OUR CREATOR MADE US TO DO.

God made the apple tree to bear fruit and to reproduce itself.  Since day one, the apple tree has borne fruit and reproduced itself.

God made the squirrel to climb trees, collect nuts, and reproduce itself.  Since day one, the squirrel has climbed trees, collected nuts, and reproduced itself.

Every element of God’s Creation has glorified God by doing what God created it to do…except for mankind.

God gave mankind the gift of a free will, and we used our free will to rebel against Him, to do our own thing.

God made us to LOVE one another, yet we HATE.

God made us to deal HONESTLY with one another, yet we CHEAT and LIE.

God made us to LOVE HIM, yet we IGNORE and REJECT Him.

The Ten Commandments provide us with the ten clearest examples of how we do the opposite of what our Creator made us to do.  Every human being is guilty of rebelling against our Creator, and our rebellion condemns us to an eternity of punishment and separation from God.

Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Matthew 18:8 It is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

BUT THERE IS A REMEDY FOR OUR SIN!!!

God loves you, and He does not want you to be condemned by your own sin.  So God became a man, in the person of Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the only man who has ever lived who did not rebel against God, because He IS God.  Because He did not sin, Jesus did not have to face the condemnation of sin; He didn’t have to die.  So He became sin FOR us, He was condemned in our place.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.

1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Jesus Christ died for our sins, and He rose from the dead, conquering death.

Your salvation from sin is ready and waiting for you; you simply must choose to receive it.  How do you receive it?  By admitting your sinfulness to God, acknowledging to God that Jesus’ death is your only hope for being forgiven, and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ for yourself.

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God makes it simple for you to be saved, because He wants you to spend eternity with Him.  If you want to take Jesus Christ as your Saviour right now, just talk to God; pray from your heart.  If you’re not sure exactly how to pray, say something like this:

" Dear God, I know that I am a sinner in your sight, and I’m sorry.  Please forgive me.  Thank you for sending Jesus Christ to die for my sins.  I know that His death for me is the only way that I can be forgiven.  Jesus, I receive you as my Lord and Saviour.  Come into my heart, save my soul, and take me to Heaven when I die.  Help me to live like a Christian.  Thank you for saving me!  Amen. "

If you made the decision to believe on Jesus, God has forgiven your sins, He has given you everlasting life, and you have just initiated a personal relationship with God.  Praise the Lord!

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Now that you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour, there are so many more good things that God has for you.  Get a copy of the Bible, and read it, asking God to teach you as you go.  Talk to God in prayer, from your heart, as simply and sincerely as you would talk to another human being.  And please do not hesitate to contact our church by phone or email, so that we can help you to know your God better!
